History of Block Panchayat

The Vadavukode Block Panchayat was established in October 1961 as part of the efforts to strengthen the Panchayati Raj system in Kerala. With the 73rd and 74th Amendments to the Indian Constitution, a legal foundation was established for the process of decentralized democracy. Subsequently, the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act came into force in 1994. Based on these developments, Shri. M. G. Ravi was elected as the first President of Vadavukode Block Panchayat for the term 1995–2000.
