Development Standing Committee
Under the Kerala Panchayat Raj Act, the main duties and powers of the Development Standing Committee of the Block Panchayat are as follows:
🌾 Development Projects and Agriculture
- Agricultural Development: To plan and implement projects in areas such as agriculture, animal husbandry, dairy development, and soil and water conservation.
- Small-Scale Industries & Industry: To promote small-scale and rural industries, traditional industries, and other projects that create employment opportunities.
💧 Drinking Water and Environment
- Drinking Water Projects: To ensure the supervision and development of drinking water supply projects within the Block Panchayat's jurisdiction.
- Environmental Protection: To coordinate local environmental protection activities and wasteland development projects.
📊 Project Planning and Coordination
- Annual Projects: To prepare annual plans and projects related to the development sector and submit them to the governing body for approval.
- Gram Panchayat Coordination: To coordinate the development activities of the Gram Panchayats under the Block Panchayat and to provide the necessary technical and developmental assistance.
- Utilization of Funds: To ensure that the allotted development funds are utilized in a timely and efficient manner.
