Soil Types
Two major soil types are predominantly found in the Vadavukode Block Panchayat region: the Mazhuvannur Series and the Aikkaranad Series.
- Mazhuvannur Series: This soil type is shallow in depth, with dark brown or yellowish-red topsoil. It is lateritic in nature and has good drainage characteristics. Pineapple cultivation is widely practised in areas where this soil type is predominant.
- Aikkaranad Series: This soil type consists of deep, poorly drained alluvial clay soils, generally dark brown or yellowish-brown in colour. The region is characterised by paddy fields with alluvial soil deposits. This soil is also used for the manufacture of bricks and roofing tiles.
