Waste Management: Know the Law, Act Responsibly

Citizen Responsibility

What Everyone Must Follow

Waste management is not the responsibility of the local body alone. Every individual and institution that generates waste has a responsibility.

🏠

Households

Treat biodegradable waste at home as far as possible, using a suitable method such as composting. Separate non-biodegradable waste cleanly and hand it over to the Haritha Karma Sena.

🏪

Commercial Establishments

Keep the premises clean, do not dump waste in open areas, and follow the applicable collection and processing procedures and user fees.

🏢

Institutions and Bulk Waste Generators

Ensure source-level processing and record keeping appropriate to the quantity and nature of waste, as per the applicable rules.

🚯

Public Places

Do not dump or burn waste on roads, in water bodies, along roadsides or in vacant plots.

🚛

Collection System

Hand over segregated waste in the prescribed manner every month to the Haritha Karma Sena members of Asamannoor Grama Panchayat, following the collection schedule.

📣

Public Participation

If you notice waste dumping, report it to the concerned authorities through the available official complaint system.

Source Segregation

Let's Segregate Waste Correctly

Following the four-category segregation concept of the 2026 central rules, also follow the collection instructions announced locally.

🍌

1. Wet / Biodegradable Waste

Biodegradable waste such as food leftovers, vegetable and fruit peels, and flowers. Adopt suitable composting or another approved biological treatment method.

2
🧴

2. Dry / Non-biodegradable Waste

Plastic, paper, metal, glass and the like. Keep them as clean as possible and hand them over to an approved collection system for reuse or recycling.

3
🩹

3. Sanitary Waste

Wrap diapers, sanitary napkins and the like securely and hand them over in the manner prescribed by the local body / approved agency. Do not mix with other waste.

4
⚠️

4. Waste Requiring Special Care

Expired medicines, batteries, bulbs, containers with chemical residue, needles and the like must not be mixed with ordinary waste. Seek a suitable separate collection route.

Please note: The method of handover may vary depending on the type of waste. Do not handle hazardous or health-threatening waste as ordinary household waste.
